warmth, creativity
|
The Hadley Wood Jewish Community Cheder has always prided itself on its warmth, creativity and fun environment, conducive for learning. A warm and friendly Cheder with small classes, our Rabbi and Rebbetzin, Akiva and Batya Rosenblatt, have a strong vision for a thriving centre for Jewish education. The stimulating curriculum and innovative lesson design ensure the children get a solid education in Jewish knowledge, can read fluently and confidently, have a strong sense of their Jewish identity, and make friends in a warm, creative and fun environment.
Our Hebrew reading coordinator is Mrs Diana Lazarus, who leads a team of community members who join the Cheder staff to support the children with their Hebrew reading, driving a high standard of accomplishment in Hebrew reading. Diana is an experienced educator who is a huge asset to our Cheder; our children benefit enormously from her expertise, passion, and commitment. When our students reach Year 5 and 6, they are taught directly by Rabbi Akiva, who teaches the relevance that their Jewish learning has to their lives as they prepare to embark on their journeys to becoming adults. He teaches through discussion and stories, touching on Chumash, Halacha and Gemara. |

"Together with Rabbi Akiva, we believe that every child should have a warm, fun and enjoyable experience of Judaism. We have a great Jewish knowledge curriculum that is given over in a dynamic way, with every Jewish Holiday celebrated in full swing. We also focus on ensuring that the children become fluent in Hebrew reading and writing. Children leave our Cheder with a strong sense of their Jewish Identity." |

“The children, including my son, are engaged and excited to learn. The team treats it as their vocation to enlighten and nurture our children to enjoy 'Cheder' and to take something out of it to be shared within their own homes. II feel the presence of something truly great brewing, and our children are blessed and lucky to have such spiritually energetic, inspirational and joyous teachers!” “My son loves going to this Cheder. He likes the fact that its intimate – the smaller classes make it easier to participate. The teachers are warm, nurturing and encouraging. He enjoys making arty things and having fun while learning.” |

"The new Cheder is great fun. I really enjoy that we get to do a lot of arts and crafts whilst learning about Judaism." "Cheder is really fun. The Rabbi each week tells us a story about this week's Parsha where we are free to ask questions and challenge him. We constantly learn new things about our religion and I am happy to go each week". |
