The United Synagogue invites applicants for the position of Rabbinic Couple of Hadley Wood Jewish Community.
Competitive compensation package includes outstanding detached family house.
About the role
Hadley Wood Jewish Community is looking for a modern, charismatic, and dynamic Rabbinic Couple to lead the community in our spiritual, halachic, educational, and pastoral needs in a manner that is inspiring and exciting to members of all ages. A successful Rabbinic candidate will be equally as comfortable leyning each week as running inspirational learning and cultural programs. They must be able to connect with the diversity of observance within our community and willing to work hard to infuse HWJC with a sense of spirituality (both in the synagogue and through regular home entertaining), engaging existing members and attracting new members.
About our community
HWJC started in members’ houses twenty-five years ago and became an independent member of the United Synagogue in 2012. We have had our own permanent home in Hadley Wood since 2002. In 2018, we completed a full rebuild of our shul and now benefit from outstanding, purpose-built, modern facilities. We are known for our welcoming, intimate, and friendly environment, with a remarkable community spirit and one of the most active and engaged memberships within the United Synagogue. We are proud that we have regular minyanim for every service on Shabbat, as well as a monthly Sunday morning service.
About Hadley Wood
One of north London’s most exclusive addresses, Hadley Wood is positioned in stunning countryside close to Barnet, and is a wonderful place to raise a family. Within a 10 minute radius, we have an excellent United Synagogue primary school (Wolfson Hillel, rated Ofsted ‘outstanding’), a kosher butcher, and the mikveh facilities at another local shul. Just 20 minutes away, we enjoy extensive kosher shopping options in Hendon, Edgware, and Borehamwood.
Only 11 miles from the centre of London, our railway station has fast links to Kings Cross, Moorgate, and Welwyn Garden City; you can access the Piccadilly Line from Cockfosters tube station and the Northern Line from High Barnet; and depending on traffic, Heathrow, Luton and Stansted airports are ~40 minutes away. Just up the road is the stunning Trent Country Park, once a hunting ground for Henry VIII; you can roam the forests and wooded gorges on foot or by bike whilst keeping an eye out for the wealth of protected wildlife living there.
